First struck under Constantine I, the Miliarense (‘relating to a thousand’) was struck in two main types, heavy and light, typically weighing between 3.8 and 6.0g with a diameter of 23-24mm. In the late Roman monetary system it equated to 14 heavy Miliarense to the solidus and eighteen light.
