Theodosius II, often referred to as Theodosius the Younger, or Theodosius the Calligrapher, was the Eastern Roman Emperor for most of his life, having taken the throne as an infant in 402AD and ruling as the Eastern Empire’s sole emperor following the death of his father Arcadius in 408AD. He is known to history for publicising his Theodosian law code, simplifying the existing law, and also for the construction of the Theodosian Walls of Constantinople.
