Struck in nearly pure gold (23 carat, 0.995 fine) with exceptional detail, it features Queen Mary enthroned with orb and sceptre, and a Tudor rose reverse inscribed with the Latin phrase: ‘This is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes.’ Valued at 30 shillings in its time, this coin showcases advancements in minting technology and honors Mary’s Spanish heritage with a pomegranate mint mark.
