An extremely rare Norman penny struck under the rule of David I of Scotland, using altered dies of the cross moline type penny of Stephen, king of England (1135-1154A.D.) Struck at Carlisle in North-west England, then under Scottish control.
An interesting piece of early Scottish/English history.
