Quintus Cassius Longinus was directly related to ‘Cassius’ (the murderer of Julius Caesar). Cassius Longinus was a moneyer of the Roman mint in 55 BC. He served as an official of Pompey in southern Spain in 54 BC. In 49 BC, as tribune of the people, Cassius strongly supported the cause of Caesar, who subsequently made him governor of Hispania Ulterior.
The obverse shows the veiled head of Libertas, the reverse type depicting the temple of Vesta with a curule chair within.
