Didia Clara was the only child of the Roman Emperor Didius Julianus and Empress Manlia Scantilla. She was born and raised in Rome, and following Didius Julianus’ purchase of the throne of the Roman Empire at an auction held by the praetorian guardsmen early in 193, after which he was gained the title of Augustus by the Senate, both his wife Manlia Scantilla and his daughter Didia Clara received the title of Augusta.
Little is known about her life, but in her younger years she was betrothed to a paternal cousin, though in 193AD married Sextus Cornelius Repentinus, who served as prefect of Rome during the short period that his father-in-law reigned, which started on 28 March 193AD. When her father died on 1st June 193AD, the new emperor Septimius Severus removed her title; within a month, her mother died, she survived her parents but her fate thereafter is unknown.
