Fausta w. of Constantine I 306-337AD London
19x20mm, 3.08g
The reverse type is thought to show Fausta holding the infants Constantine II and Constantius II. Fausta was the daughter of Maximianus who died as a consequence of an assassination plot against her husband Constantine. Having alerted Constantine to the plot she was held in high esteem by Constantine and was given the title of Augusta. However, Fausta was put to death by Constantine three years later in 326AD.
