Arcadius Gold Solidus 383-408AD Constantinople
20mm, 4.33g
Arcadius, Hispanic in origin, was Roman Emperor in the east from 395 to 408AD. He was the eldest son of Theodosius I and Aelia Flaccilla, and brother of the emperor Honorius, who ruled the western empire. His ministers and wife, Aelia Eudoxia, had much political influence during his reign.
An exceptional example of a late solidus, mint lustre and a wonderful strike.
