The town or Perge (Perga to the Romans) in modern Turkey, had a temple to Artemis which was probably ancient, perhaps dating back to the 5th century BC, within which was an object which is usually referred to as a cult statue of Artemis of Perge, or Artemis Pergaia, though this continues to be a subject of discussion.
